About Us

preparing communionSt. Clare’s today is a vibrant, joyful and growing Christian community. Its mission is to “Reach Those Reaching for God” in western Henrico County, specifically those who are “unchurched” or “formerly churched.” St. Clare’s was begun in 2002 by the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church of Richmond as a response to Jesus’ command to his disciples to go forth, make disciples, baptize and teach, as recounted in Matthew’s Gospel. St. Clare’s held its first public worship service on November 3, 2003.

In 2004, St. Clare’s acquired 7.4 acres of land at the intersection of John Rolfe and Ridgefield Parkways by means of a gift from the Wilton Companies and the Diocese. St. Clare’s hopes that through the grace of God, there will be a church building on the land in the near future. In the meantime, St. Clare’s is holding worship and church school on Sunday mornings at 10:00 at The Steward School on Gayton Road. You are most welcome to come worship with us.kids_singing
